On Wednesday evenings this Summer 2010 we are discussing our engagement of culture and politics. These presentations and discussions begin at 7:00 p.m. at Evergreen Church:
June 23 – In Whose Service? The Citizen and the State (presented by Elliot Williams)
June 30 – Christianity and Leisure (presented by Dr. Erik Haralson)
July 7 – Beauty and the 21st Century Christian: Reconciling Heart and Mind (presented by Julie Southgate)
July 14 – Freedom and Economics: The Market’s Challenge to Social Conservatives. (presented by Michael Kane)
July 21 – Portland Architecture: A Case Study in the Decline of Western Aesthetics
Mr. John Southgate, city planner for Hillsboro, will be leading a walking tour of Portland architecture as a case study of shifting aesthetic principles over the past 150 years. Attendees should meet at Pioneer Square, at the intersection of Broadway and Morrison, across from Starbucks. If possible, please plan to arrive 10 minutes early to find parking and to congregate with the group. The tour should last roughly from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
