The Beaverton Religion Forum is returning to Evergreen’s fall schedule.
Training in Apologetics and Evangelism
On Sunday, October 21 at 5:00 p.m. Evergreen will meet to discuss the purpose of the Beaverton Religion Forum, which is to create space for neighbors to present their faith and practice, highlighting distinctives in a peaceful manner. We do not aim to reduce all religions or views to “we basically believe and do the same things,” but rather come to an understanding of differing views and practices. Pastor Nathan Lewis will provide some training in apologetics through asking questions, engaging in conversations and building friendships with neighbors.
“What is Prayer?” Baha’i and Christian Presentations
On Sunday, October 28 at 5:00 p.m. we will meet with the Beaverton Baha’i at Evergreen Church to discuss “What is Prayer?” The Bahai will answer the question according to Bahai beliefs and practice. Evergreen will answer the question according to Christian beliefs and practice. A Q&A session will follow.
“This is How We Worship” Muslim & Christian
On Sunday, November 4, the Islamic Center of Portland and Evergreen Church will share a meal at 4:30 p.m. and you are invited to join us. After dinner Mohammad Rahman will explain how his Muslim community worships then Nathan Lewis will explain how his Christian community worships. A Q&A session will follow.
Atheists, Agnostics, Mavericks and Christians
We are planning another meeting in December with Bernie Dehler and the Westside Science and Religion Discussion Group.
