Hearthstone Assisted Living of Beaverton and Evergreen Presbyterian Church of Beaverton are hosting a community BBQ and concert on Sunday, July 13. This is a free community event to promote neighborly relationships in the Hyland neighborhood. The BBQ starts at 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Hearthstone on Hart Road near the Hall Blvd. intersection. The Evie Haskell concert starts at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen on the corner of Hart and Hall. Hearthstone is providing free food including ice cream. We are organizing games for children along with free balloons, and face painting. The point is to get out to meet our neighbors and to make new friends. Evie Haskell has lived in Portland and Beaverton since age seven. She has been discovered recently in the music world. Doors continue to open for Evie and her songwriting continues to receive positive reviews. After just learning that Until Then received First Place with Contemporary Christian Music International*s songwriting contest, an announcement was made in March 2007 that she had received Album of the Year from Indieheaven.com, and soon followed an invitation to open for Grammy award winning, Third Day at a concert on the East Coast. Recently, Evie was informed that her song, Talk Me Home, won the Adult Contemporary genre and is one of the top ten 2007 finalists with songoftheyear.com. Hearthstone Assisted Living Community is owned and operated by an extended family, long-time residents of Beaverton, hiring neighbors to care for residents in a beautiful and clean home setting. Evergreen Presbyterian Church organized as a congregation in Beaverton in 1997 and has been developing the corner lot at Hall and Hart for the past six years. Together with Hearthstone and a growing number of Hyland neighbors, Evergreen desires to enhance the friendliness of the neighborhood. Those of us hosting this event love Beaverton and our desire is to make it an even better place to live. Come join us!
