How Can I Know God? A Presentation of Christianity by Tim Keller

What is Christianity? Some say it is a philosophy, others say it is an ethical stance, while
still others claim it is actually an experience. None of these things really gets to the heart
of the matter, however. Each is something a Christian has, but not one of them serves as
a definition of what a Christian is. Christianity has at its core a transaction between a
person and God. A person who becomes a Christian moves from knowing about God
distantly to knowing about him directly and intimately. Christianity is knowing God.

Nathan Lewis and E.C. Bell Share the Preaching at CVPC

E.C. Bell our new pastor at CVPC will be preaching this December 14 and 21. Throughout 2009 he will be on site and preaching more and more. In June 2009 he, along with Ardis, his wife and their four children, will relocate from Longmont, CO to Newberg.
From Advent 2008 through Passion 2009, Nathan is preaching through the Gospel of Luke. He has chosen those texts which are unique to the Gospel of Luke, not found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, or John. Sermons of Nathan and E.C. are posted at www.nathanlewis.org in audio and/or printed format. Also, you may find John Calvin’s Harmony of the Gospels an interesting study during this sermon series. Instead of writing one commentary on each of the four Gospels, Calvin attempted to put all of them together, to reconcile assumed contradictions, and to show their common purpose. If you would like to read and study ahead of Nathan’s sermons, use the following schedule. [Read more →]
