Just Do Something: A Liberating Approach to Finding God’s Will
Kevin DeYoung
Many Christians are imprisoned by analysis paralysis when it comes to decision making. Either they are passively waiting for a sign that they should do something, or they simply believe that God must tell them when an important decision needs to be made. Kevin DeYoung argues persuasively in this short book that Christians must stop blaming their indecision on God, and must take responsibility for decision making when it comes to issues that God has not spoken to in his word. For some Christians, this will be a life-changing book.

Decision Making and the Will of God: A Biblical Alternative to the Traditional View
Garry Friesen
So many Christians believe that the way they are supposed to live is to live within this narrow plan God has for their life that they think of as the “will of God.” Because of this, they live plagued by the fear that even though they made a decision that wasn’t morally wrong or unbiblical, that somehow they didn’t rightly hear from God and so made a decision that placed them “outside of his will.” Garry Friesen’s book was presented to me around 20 years ago, and completely changed how I see the subject of decision making. Any Christian who is terrified that they are somehow outside the will of God because they somehow did not engage in the right practice of discernment would be well served by reading this book. If you think you need a special sign from God to tell you before you make important decisions, you should read this book. Yes, it might change how you make decisions, but it is also liberating. Seeing our life as being bound by the word of God, and free if God’s word hasn’t spoken on a subject is deeply liberating. This is a large book. For those who need something short and readable, they should definitely read Kevin DeYoung’s Just Do Something instead.
